Cooking instructions need amending

I've reviewed customer reviews and Sealand recommendations for cooking...have made 2 cookings...both times, bacon undercooked (bad effects!), second time over cooked scallops which were dry and tough...can someone give me specific instructions so that scallops cooked properly and bacon not raw???

Hi M K

Thank you for your review and feedback! We suggest cooking them however you like until the bacon is to your liking and from exeperience in cooking them from folks within the company, the scallops have been perfect and bacon to their liking. The instructions provided are only a guidline and require consideration of appliances varying cooking times. Having said that, we have a lucky volunteer here who is going to cook them by frying pan, oven, smoker and BBQ and we will report the results in reply to you here in the coming days.

Update

Hi M K
Pan Fry Test - From frozen - Med heat- turning as needed- removed toothpick for last turn to get the bacon fried (optional) for crispier bacon - 25 min - Scallops perfect
Grilled on the BBQ Test - From frozen - Med/low heat (400-450)
18.5 - 20 minutes flipping every 3. Most were crispy. Once a bit cooked can remove tooth picks for a quick closer cook for crispier bacon - scallops perfect

I will update when we have Air Fryer and Oven testing done!

Oven testing is in!
Cook frozen at 400 for 37-40 min, flipping occasionally to crisp the bacon on all sides

In Air Fryer
Cook from frozen 400F for 30 min repositioning every 10 min to cook bacon evenly

In summary, the oven cooking method wasreported as the preferred method for all over even cooking but all were extremely tasty!

We hop you give one of these methods a try, keeping in mind that all cooking appliances will vary the cooking times and temperatures.

We hope you find this testing and reporting helpful MK!

Best Ways to Cook

We recommend that all our seafood products be thawed out of packaging for 24 hours in the refrigerator prior to cooking (unless otherwise stated). Whether choosing to thaw inside or outside of the packaging, please place in a dish to thaw. Bacon-wrapped scallops can be cooked using a variety of methods. Try one of the following tonight. INDIVIDUAL APPLIANCE TEMPERATURE MAY VARY THE COOKING TIME. USE CAUTION AS PRODUCT WILL BE HOT!

Pan Fry

How to Pan Fry Bacon Wrapped Scallops

Pat thawed scallops dry with a paper towel to remove any excess moisture. Preheat a skillet or frying pan over medium-high heat. Add a small amount of oil or butter to the preheated pan and heat until the oil shimmers or the butter melts and begins to foam. Place the scallops in the pan, making sure to leave some space between them. Avoid overcrowding the pan, as it can cause the scallops to steam instead of sear. Cook scallops for 3-4 minutes on each side, avoiding moving or flipping them too soon to ensure proper searing. When done the scallops should be opaque and firm to the touch but still tender (internal temperature 145°F). Remove the scallops from the pan and let them rest for a minute or two before serving.
Air Fry

How to Air Fry Bacon Wrapped Scallops

Preheat air fryer to 390°F. Lightly spray the basket with cooking spray or oil. Arrange the thawed scallops in a single layer in the basket and air fry for 4 minutes. The scallops are done when they turn opaque and are firm to the touch but still tender (internal temperature 145°F). Remove the scallops from the air fryer and let them rest for a minute or two before serving.

Cooking times and temperatures may vary based on the method of preparation and your desired degree of doneness. Test for doneness with a meat thermometer.
