Tuna Saku Blocks

(Item #95) 7-12 (7oz-11oz) firm Ahi Tuna Saku Blocks (7 x 10oz servings) that are perfect for sushi, sashimi, and tataki.

Sealand's frozen Yellowfin Ahi Tuna Saku Blocks are precision cut from the centre of the tuna loin, giving you the cleanest, most consistent portion for slicing sushi, sashimi and tataki at home. Boneless, skinless and bloodline removed so every piece is pure, premium tuna with nothing to trim.

Wild caught with a firm texture and mild, meaty flavour, this sashimi grade tuna is the same quality you'd find behind the counter at a high-end Japanese restaurant. Each block is individually quick frozen, locking in the freshness and quality that matters most when you're serving raw. Thaw what you need, keep the rest frozen and know that every block will perform the same way every time.

Best Ways To Cook

We recommend that all our fish products be thawed out of packaging for 24 hours in the refrigerator prior to cooking (unless otherwise stated). Whether choosing to thaw inside or outside of the packaging, please place in a dish to thaw. With sushi grade ahi tuna, you can simply slice and serve. Or, try the following cooking method tonight.
INDIVIDUAL APPLIANCE TEMPERATURE MAY VARY THE COOKING TIME. USE CAUTION AS PRODUCT WILL BE HOT!

How to Pan Sear Tuna

Heat a large frying pan over high heat. Add 1 tbsp of sesame oil to the pan. Pat dry the thawed tuna saku block and season with sea salt and pepper and sesame seeds. Place in the pan and sear for 1 minute per side. Slice and transfer to serving bowls.

How to Grill Tuna

Preheat grill to very high heat (around 600-650 degrees F). Pat the tuna steaks dry with a paper towel, drizzle with avocado or vegetable oil, and season on both sides with salt and pepper.

Place the seasoned tuna saku block on the grill, close the lid, and cook for 90 seconds. Rotate the fish 90 degrees and cook for an additional 90 seconds (this turn will give you those beautiful criss-cross grill marks on your fish). Turn the fish to the other side and repeat. Slice and transfer to serving bowls.

Cooking times and temperatures may vary based on the method of preparation and the thickness of the fish. Test for doneness with a meat thermometer.
