Hokkaido Scallops - U10/U12

(Item #105) Approx. 70 Hokkaido U10/U12 Scallops (14 x 4.4oz servings), Individually Quick Frozen (iQF) for ultimate freshness.

Among the finest in the world and now in your freezer. Sealand's frozen Hokkaido scallops are harvested from the cold, pristine waters off Japan's northern coast and prized globally for their large size, firm texture and naturally sweet, creamy flavour.

These are dry packed Japanese scallops with no added phosphates or water, which means you get pure, clean taste and the kind of searing performance that wet-packed scallops simply cannot match. At U10/U12 sizing, each scallop is substantial enough to be the centrepiece of a plate. Sear them for a golden crust, serve them as sashimi by thawing and slicing raw, or pair them with pasta and a simple butter sauce. Individually quick frozen so you can use as many or as few as you need without thawing the entire box.

Best Ways To Cook

We recommend that all our seafood products be thawed out of packaging for 24 hours in the refrigerator prior to cooking (unless otherwise stated). Whether choosing to thaw inside or outside of the packaging, please place in a dish to thaw. Scallops can be cooked using a variety of methods. Try one of the following tonight.
INDIVIDUAL APPLIANCE TEMPERATURE MAY VARY THE COOKING TIME. USE CAUTION AS PRODUCT WILL BE HOT!

How to Pan Fry Scallops

Pat thawed scallops dry with a paper towel to remove any excess moisture. Preheat a skillet or frying pan over medium-high heat. Add a small amount of oil or butter to the preheated pan and heat until the oil shimmers or the butter melts and begins to foam. Place the scallops in the pan. Avoid overcrowding the pan, as it can cause the scallops to steam instead of sear. Cook scallops for 2-3 minutes on each side, avoiding moving or flipping them too soon to ensure proper searing. When done the scallops should be opaque and firm to the touch but still tender (internal temperature 145°F).

Remove the scallops from the pan and let them rest for a minute or two before serving. This allows the juices to redistribute and results in a more tender and flavourful scallop.

How to Air Fry Scallops

Scallops are best air-fried from frozen. Preheat air fryer to 390°F. Lightly spray the basket with cooking spray or oil. Arrange the frozen scallops in a single layer in the basket and air fry for 4 minutes. The scallops are done when they turn opaque and are firm to the touch but still tender (internal temperature 145°F).

Remove the scallops from the air fryer and let them rest for a minute or two before serving. This allows the juices to redistribute and results in a more tender and flavorful scallop.

Cooking times and temperatures may vary based on the method of preparation and your desired degree of doneness. Test for doneness with a meat thermometer.
